i love weddings

Two weeks ago this Friday my beautiful sister-in-law got married. It was an absolutely beautiful day and she was a stunning bride. You couldn’t help but feel the overwhelming love while watching the two of them commit their lives to each other and then get caught up in the joy and laughter as we watched them celebrate all night long. It was beautiful to watch and so fun to be a part of. While I did have my camera with me, it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t, I wasn’t able to shoot the wedding like I normally would have- being a part of the wedding party and having a 7 week old who was still nursing every two hours seriously cut into my photography time. Darn that sweet, sweet baby! That being said, I still managed to take a handful and I apologize for the ridiculous amount of photos I am about to post. It was a fantastic day and a wonderful start to their journey. Congrats you guys I love you both!

Every January as I look back at our year I can’t help but feel so incredibly blessed. We have had a wonderful 2013 and I can’t wait to see what 2014 is going to bring!

first haircut

It’s photos like this,

this,

yes, he got his hair from me (one of the many reasons that we knew the curls would not disappear when they were cut)

and especially this one…

one day before his haircut- believe it or not I did try to tame it this day

that made it really hard to ignore the fact that my little Jay Bird was in desperate need of his first haircut.  That and the fact that I  could no longer tame it with comb and a little water.  Knowing that his curls would not disappear (like so many people said they would) Jamie and I decided to bite the bullet when Aunt Holly opened the barber shop and to get it cut.  Bribed with a few jelly beans to sit still and sitting in his booster chair on top of an Outburst box he was transformed into a little boy… thanks Aunt Holly (the great) for the great new do!

I don’t have any great after shots- sorry; however, some of the most recent photos that have been posted show off the new do.  Check them out to see his handsome little self  :)

cousin pictures

Every year when everyone is together (which is usually only at the holidays) Jamie’s family takes a cousin picture.  Last year they (the Moms and Dads/ Aunts and Uncles) made every cousin a book with all of the pictures- it was so cool to see everyone grow up from year to year.  And also pretty darn funny to see some of the clothing (a lot of it was from the 80’s and early 90’s).  This year Jay (since he is a cousin too) was included in the picture.  I can’t wait to see this picture continue to grow as the family continues to grow!

sunday fun day

If you thought Saturday looked like fun you should be jealous of our Sunday.  To top off our weekend, Jamie, Jay and I spent the majority of our day at Mimi and Pepere’s house hanging out with Aunt Nicole, doing a little bit of swinging, watching Jeremiah cook and filling our bellies with the most delicious food!  Did I mention that Jeremiah is a chef?  Well he is and he’s a darn good one; I think all of us could have been rolled straight from the table to bed that night!  It was such a wonderful (food coma inducing) day filled with family and laughter, and seriously, nothing tops that!

Yesterday, after going through the half gazillion pictures I took (a lot of which were food pictures- btw, I am more of a people-picture-taker than a food photographer but it was fun to try something new) I played around with aperture for a while.  Enjoy a storyboard of sorts from our Sunday…

happy canadian thanksgiving!

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. So this past Saturday (since we don’t get today off) we all drove out to Mom’s place and celebrated by filling our bellies, taking family pictures and singing Happy Birthday to the two October babies (the outlaws- Jamie and Frannie). It was great to see Scott and Frannie and nice to celebrate as a family; that and we get two turkey dinners a year- what could be better?

Enjoy the pictures, wish we were closer and able to celebrate with everyone up North…

people we miss…

Jamie, Jay and I are blessed to have so many family members living close by.  We are frequently able to celebrate occasions, show off Jay’s new tricks and just spend good quality time with the people that we love.  However, for as many people that live close by there are that many and more that don’t live near us.  We are so grateful for all of the time that we do get to spend with them but hope they know that it’s not as much as we would like to.

Here are just a few pictures from some of our recent (this is a relative term) visitors.  We miss you all, those pictured and those not, terribly and wish we could see you more often!!  Love you all…

Uncle Scott and Auntie Frannie- Sorry Scott, I don’t have a recent picture of you and Jay :-( We will have to rectify that when we see you all later this month!

minus the fireworks…

Jamie, Jay and I had a wonderful 4th of July.  We spent our day sleeping-in a little (not because Jay slept longer- he was up at 5 and again at 7, so we all crawled in for his first nap of the day), we went for a walk with the two dogs after getting up, it was hot but enjoyable with a stop at Grandpa and Grandma’s house and we finished the day with a cook-out at our place.  Jamie grilled burgers and dogs and we had corn, watermelon and crust-less cheesecake for dessert with peaches and blueberries-yum!!

We are headed to bed now to get some shut eye with hopes that the dogs and Jay can sleep through all of the fireworks, maybe we’ll enjoy those with Jay next year… Goodnight and happy 4th!

a great group shot of the supper crew before we filled our bellies :-)

By the way… Jay was wearing a super cute “first 4th of July” outfit; however, he decided to spring a leak on it before we could get any pictures of him in it.  Maybe I will grab some of him in it tomorrow, just to show that it was worn.
