such a special day

I am delighted to share a few photos from the beautiful wedding Jamie, Jay and I got to be a part of last weekend. On Friday the 4th Jamie’s cousin married her long time boyfriend Josh in what can only be described as the perfect day! The weather was beautiful, the bride was even more so, the details were thoughtful and springy and the whole day was just so full of love and joy! Maggie and Josh, we truly couldn’t be happier for the two of you and were so honored to be a part of your special day.

While there were SO many things and moments that I would have loved the opportunity to photograph at this wedding I simply didn’t get the chance. It has been so long since I have attended, much less participated in, a wedding that I didn’t photograph! However, I did get a handful of photos that I love. So please excuse the ridiculous amount of photos I am about to share. I really had way too many favorites to narrow it down any further than I did!

missing you

new blooms

Grandpa would have been 83 years old today and not a day goes by that we don’t miss him. Which is why I am always thankful for the constant reminders of his presence. Like new tomatoes growing in the garden and a handful of new blooms on the tababula tree out back that he grew from seed. It’s the little things that make these difficult days just that much more bearable.

grandpa

On Friday we spent the day surrounded by family and friends remembering Jamie’s Grandpa; I never knew that my heart could feel so heavy yet full all at the same time. Throughout the weeks after losing Grandpa, story after story was shared, memories were recounted and the same sentiment was reiterated over and over again about what a wonderful, wonderful man he was. I ache with our human sorrow, finding it still so difficult to believe that he is actually gone and I struggle each time Jay asks if Grandpa is coming over or where Grandpa is. Moving on without him will be so difficult but I can’t help but feel SO richly blessed for the time that we got with him.

laughs at lunch with Charlie

As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (New Revised Standard Version, 2 Tim. 4.6-8)

lunch

One of the perks of Jamie working from home is that we get to have lunch with Grandpa when he does.  We all look forward to it- Piper nearly knocks over everyone in her path once she sees us getting ready for lunch (putting the place-mats out and getting a towel for her to have her kong treat on) and Jay bounds around the house saying “Grandpa, Grandpa” in a sweet sing-songy voice when he sees him pull up or hears the front gate open announcing his arrival.  I know it’s only a little bit before Charlie joins in on the Grandpa’s-here-dance too because he loves every bit of our visits as much as the rest of us.  I am so glad that I was able to grab a few photos from the highlight of our week; Charlie shared some adorable smiles and the few that I got of Grandpa reading to Jay (which is probably Jay’s favorite part of our lunch routine) make my heart smile.  Enjoy the photos and enjoy the next few days of your weekend ;)

pool time at blue waters

Aside from lounging on the beach I am pretty sure that we spent the majority of our time hanging pool side while at Blue Waters. I think that by the end of the summer Jay might actually grow gills- seriously this little guys loves to swim! He hasn’t finished his swim lessons yet (we actually have quite a few more weeks left) but he can kick his little feet with the best of them.  Luckily Jamie thought to bring his underwater housing for our point and shoot camera so I was able to have a camera with me at all times- yea! Here are a handful of the photos that I got of people enjoying the pool.

our little fish- love how he you can see his smile in this one!

the steps of the pool were great for Jay; they had a big handrail and were really wide. He loved climbing in and out of the pool while we were swimming.

our fish swimming to the steps- and yes he actually would swim 2 or 3 feet on his own to the steps!

Jay really loved to hang out in the showers at Blue Waters, especially after he figured out how to use the foot sprayer all on his own.

the first of the beach photos

Last Sunday (father’s day) Jamie, Jay and I headed down to Blue Waters Beach Club, a beachfront motel on Anna Maria Island, to spend the week with his family.  A week at the beach was a long standing tradition with the Vickers Clan who sat sea side year after year and while they took a break for a few years (10 to be exact) it was such a nice tradition to resume.  Everyone had a wonderful time, enjoying lazy mornings on the beach and in the waves, early afternoons in the shade, dips in the pool before supper, plenty of family meals, amazing sunsets and great conversations long into the night.

We have so many photos from our trip (surprise, surprise) I am not really sure where to even start!  So in an effort to not overwhelm anyone I think I will probably break it out into a few post- you’re welcome, I know you were thinking it ;)

Here you go with the first batch…

LOVE is what I have for these photo booth pictures!  I am so happy we ended up doing the photo booth and after taking a look at these I am sure you can probably see why, they are so much fun :-)

By the way, this would be a great post to use the new “slideshow-ish” feature if you wanted- there is a crazy amount of pictures since I couldn’t narrow them down at all.  Just click on the first image below and take a look!

lunch with Grandpa

Today is lunch day with Grandpa- yahoo!!

Before Jamie and I got married and until he had to work from the office more regularly, Jamie had lunch at least once a week with his Grandpa.  I remember distinctly the first lunch I was able to be included in, they arranged to have lunch on a day that I had off from school, which was sweet on both of their parts.  It was such a treat to be included and I have enjoyed these lunch dates ever since! Lately, it has become more difficult to schedule these lunches since Jamie has been working from the office; however we still manage to fit them in when we can and we enjoy every minute of the ones we get :-)

this was taken after a lunch where Grandma joined us too

more from Terra Ceia

Time has honestly been getting away from me lately. Other than the usual maintenance of the house (laundry, vacuuming- so Jay isn’t consumed by animal fur, groceries etc) I am not sure where most of my time goes these days. It seems like I wake up, blink and it’s time for bed again. Which is probably why I can’t believe that Jay is 8 months old but that is a whole other post in itself. I guess all I am trying to do is make excuses for why these pictures weren’t posted sooner.  Oh well, I have been enjoying Jay and my family lately- and that’s all the excuse I need.  Enjoy, we certainly did!
