jay bird- 6 years old

When I took the photos of the boys all together I took the opportunity to take a few photos of each of the boys individually. It really is hard to believe that this kiddo is 6 years old and stands taller than my elbow. He’s missing 6 teeth, almost finished with kindergarten and reading on his own. He is growing up before my eyes…

I am not exactly sure why but when Charlie turned three months old I put him in the same outfit for his photo shoot as I did with Jay and in turn I have used it with with Luc and Remy. It is fun to see a side by side snapshot of all of them together at the same age. Especially, since one of the most common questions we get since having Remy is who do you think he looks like? Honestly, I think he just looks like one of the brothers. I see glimpses of each of the boys from time to time but nothing that tips the scale towards one boy or the next.

I don’t have Jay in this lying down pose but it’s still fun to see the others side by side.

Remy- 3 months old

3 Months Old!!
It’s hard to believe that three months have passed since this little one joined our crazy crew and also not hard to believe at all. Remy has been such a wonderful and welcomed addition to our family that I can’t imagine it without him anymore.

Stats- based on our, possibly less accurate, home measurements

Height- 24.5 inches

Weight- 15lbs 8oz

Things of note:

Sleeping- Remy is a dream baby. Really he is. He’s been sleeping 8-9 hours per night consistently for about 3 weeks. He frequently will sleep for 10+ hours some nights which means if we put him to bed later in the evening he will sleep until 6:30/7 in the morning. His preference though is to be put to bed around 8:30 or shortly after his brothers are in bed and if we do this I feed him late in the evening before going to bed myself and then he will sleep all night.

Rolling- this monster of a baby is rolling front to back and back to front now. He has been rolling front to back since he was 6 weeks old but just recently decided he could flip the other way too. He’s super strong with great head control and has been able to push up for quite a while which is why he can do this so ridiculously early.

Smiling- Remy surely has the smiling thing down. He smiles all of the time at his brothers and also at Mommy and Daddy. He will smile at most people who talk to him (unless he is super tired). Really he is such a joy!

Laughing- He’s trying to laugh and getting really close to doing it but isn’t quite there yet.

Likes-

Bath Time- He loves his bath and is completely ok with having water in his face- yay Daddy- we have successfully desensitized another one of our boys!

His Thumb- this  one is a thumb sucker folks. He can find it on his own and uses it to soothe himself if needed. He will also take a paci; however he much prefers his thumb. He will also suck his hand, fingers or any combination of those things if he can’t manage to get the thumb in fast enough.

His Hands- he loves playing with his hands. He frequently holds them together and plays with them almost like he is twiddling his thumbs. Almost always when he is nursing his feet are crossed at the ankles and his hands are grasped and he is playing with them.

Being Outside- Like all of his brothers Remy enjoys being outside and since the weather had been so nice here we have been taking advantage of it.

Singing- Remy loves when people sing to him. He can be really fussy but when people sing, even one of the boys, he quiets right down. It’s so sweet.

Company- Occasionally Remy will fuss if we leave him on the playmat and leave the room to do something quickly. He enjoys being around people and his bothers which is good since we always have someone around ;) He had really started to notice them and watch them while they play. We have even started sitting him in the highchair (he is so strong that he can sit with the straps for a while) for short periods of time during meals so he can see what is going on.

Dislikes-

Being Cold- Honestly, I found it difficult to think of something that this sweet baby doesn’t like since he is happy almost all of the time; however, bring cold is probably his least favorite thing right now.

dear boy

Remy,
For two weeks now you have snuggled on my chest instead of gently kicking and nudging me from the inside. I have memorized your features, your long fingers, the tiny bump on your left ear, the peak on your sweetly formed lips, while staring at you day after day, hour after hour. Thank you for not making me wait another week to meet you. You fill my heart with JOY and remind me of all that I have to cherish and I can’t say thank you enough for that…

I love you sweet boy!

happy new year

2015 hasn’t been an easy year for our family. However, regardless of the difficulties there has always been joy. Our three boys bring smiles to our faces and laughter to our house on a daily basis and for that we are always grateful. Regardless of what 2016 brings I hope that we can always focus on what really matters, our family. Happy New Year everyone, here’s to a wonderful 2016.

kindergarten

I know I have been terrible at posting things lately but I do still take photos aside from iPhone photos and instagram posts. And since I actually took the time to take a look at them today I thought that I would share. Jay started Kindergarten at Brookshire Elementary today. It’s a day that I have been looking forward to and dreading all at the same time. Jay is SO ready to learn, be in school and soak up any and all information that is thrown at him. Being home with his brothers all summer has had its advantages, they play really well most of the time, but it’s also been hard since they are together all of the time too and have endless hours to push each others’ buttons. So for those reasons I was ready and he was ready to go. However, I don’t ever think any Momma bird is really ever ready to send their little one to kindergarten all day long and for that reason today was tough. I managed to keep it together all of the way to school and up until we had to leave him in the classroom. There were Momma tears on the way home, randomly throughout the day and while waiting to pick him up outside of school (I was 30 min early) when friends asked how I managed throughout the day. I was so thrilled to see him and even more thrilled to hear his excited stories about school. He talked all the way home about his day and then some. Man it is hard to watch my sweet Jay Bird spread his wings and fly but it is also so, so wonderful! I couldn’t be more proud of him than I am right now.

Here’s a few photos (actually more than just a few but it’s my blog and I can do whatever I want), the first from meet the Teacher and the later (with the backpack) from this morning.

all ready to go in his classroom!

Things have been crazy with Jamie in grad school and working a ton, the boys being home all summer- TOGETHER- and well, just life. I have a ton of photos that I would love to share at some point. Fingers crossed I will get to that soon. Like I always say, my older self is bound to thank me for whatever I get the chance to post…

18 months

Luc,

So this update is a little overdue however, every time I think of just skipping it I change my mind. I want to remember these days, these moments because kiddo you are too darn sweet right now. You are adorable and sweet but you are trouble and spoiled rotten all at the same time. It’s my fault, I can’t really say no to you at all sweet boy. You, your sweet smile and head full of curls have my number kiddo!

We celebrated your half birthday in January with half of a cake per the usual fashion and while I was taking photos of you, you crawled up onto the table and plopped yourself right down next to the cake. I have taken a bunch of 1/2 birthday photos over the years all from the same chair at the same table and neither of your bothers have even considered climbing up. Jay didn’t probably because he knew better and we would have gotten after him, Charlie didn’t because he is a rule follower and super cautious but not you, you climbed right up and smiled all the while! You are the baby right now… what can I say?! You like to do the things that your brothers are doing. You ride your plasma car along side them (being towed when your legs just aren’t fast enough to keep up), you “climb” the climber as high as you are able or just hang and dangle for as long as your little arms will let you. You eat better than the big boys right now devouring everything that is put in front of you; although Mac and Cheese and fruit, specifically blueberries, top the list right now. You know every gosh darn thing that we are saying to you but refuse to speak for yourself. Luc, you will follow directions to a tee, even ones with multiple complex (for your age) steps but won’t say words. We are working with you and while I know that you could do it you don’t really have a need to (your brothers and everyone else have you covered) and that works for you right now. You love books a ton; finding every chance you can to climb up into someones lap with a book. You really can convince anyone to read to you, even your bothers. Your favorite has got to be Find Momo, it’s sort of a Where’s Waldo but only way cooler. You have to find Momo (the dog) within these gorgeous photos and you love it and are so good at it (even before you had done it multiple times). Really the only word (I take back the fact that he doesn’t speak at all) you say regularly is Momo. You still love bath time and enjoy splashing and drinking the tub water much to your Daddy’s dislike. You sleep like a champ and are ridiculously laid back. Right now you have a really big attachment to your blanket (one that I made for you with a super soft backing), your paci and a blue stuffed dog. Frequently you are drag them all around the house together which is a large feat seeing as how big they are. It’s cute and such a wonderful reminder of what a great mix of your brothers you are. Jay was a paci kid, Charlie still is a blanket kid and while I know that’s somewhat of a silly reminder since those are just things, it reminds me of what a great blend of those two boys you are while at the same time being your own wonderful little person.

Luc, I love this age – 18 months give or take – it’s no secret. I adore all of the sweetness that comes with it; the hugs you so graciously give and the smiles that come without prompting. I continue to revel in the fact at I get to be your Mommy and can’t wait to see all that is to come.

I love you sweet boy!!

Love,
Momma
