so thankful- day 3

Because Christmas decorations are already up in the stores, since the weather here is in the low 80’s, because the leaves are changing colors on the trees (ha- we live in Florida folks) and because we hope to enjoy time with family and stuff our bellies to capacity this week, it can only mean one thing- Thanksgiving is almost here!! And since we have been especially blessed this year we thought that we would take the week to tell you about a few things we are most thankful for. We hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to enjoy it with those most dear to you…

Make sure to check on posts from the rest of the week too…We are so thankful for our new alarm clock- Jay. We may not get to spend as much time sleeping; however, each day is a new adventure and we aren’t waisting any more time in bed!

We are thankful to live in a place where we are able to share our thoughts, say what we think and indulge in simple pleasures (books, hobbies or whatever they might be). And we are especially grateful for those people that allow us to have those freedoms…

We are so thankful for our animals. They may drive us nuts sometimes but seriously our lives wouldn’t be complete without our furry family members!

turkey thursday

Well, not quite but almost… which in itself freaks me out!  How can Thanksgiving only be 2 weeks away!?!  But I digress…

Check out these adorable (if I do say so myself) bows that I made for Jamie’s cousins in Charleston.  I fell in love with the idea when I came across it online a few weeks ago and just had, had, had to make them!  They were super easy and didn’t take long at all- if you have a little girl they are, in my opinion, a must for Thanksgiving day apparel :-)  I will be shipping the package out in the mail today for them (I addressed it to the girls)- I remember how I loved to get mail when I was little, heck I still love getting packages in the mail!

Oh yeah, I can’t remember where I saw the original idea or I would give that person the credit but I figured out how to make the bows here.

halloween 2010

A few months ago (yes I started early) I was trying to figure out what Jay should be for Halloween when I stumbled across a Blue Bird pattern.  That was all I needed for the search to be over, what could be more perfect a Blue Jay costume for my little Jay Bird- um… I am pretty sure nothing is!  I worked on his costume a little each night last week (I looked early for the idea but I am really sort of a procrastinator) and am thrilled with how it turned out!  The pattern was not really good at all, thanks Martha Stewart for nothing, but Jamie and I were able to put our heads together and come up with the finished product- if you want to know how we did it feel free to ask but I won’t bore everyone else with the details.

It was a great first Halloween for all of us which included a wagon (nest) ride to visit Jamie’s family and deliver some yummy treats, a visit with Grandma and a few dozen or so photos to document the event…

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a photo booth in our house for quite some time- just for fun and for something different.  It still needs a bunch of work (not all of the kinks are out yet) but I did take a few shots with it this afternoon before going on tour with Jay Bird…

happy canadian thanksgiving!

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. So this past Saturday (since we don’t get today off) we all drove out to Mom’s place and celebrated by filling our bellies, taking family pictures and singing Happy Birthday to the two October babies (the outlaws- Jamie and Frannie). It was great to see Scott and Frannie and nice to celebrate as a family; that and we get two turkey dinners a year- what could be better?

Enjoy the pictures, wish we were closer and able to celebrate with everyone up North…

this one cracks me up- I can't remember what they are laughing at but that combined with Jay's face makes me laugh

most recent family shot of us- love Jay's smile, he is laughing with Auntie Frannie I think

minus the fireworks…

Jamie, Jay and I had a wonderful 4th of July.  We spent our day sleeping-in a little (not because Jay slept longer- he was up at 5 and again at 7, so we all crawled in for his first nap of the day), we went for a walk with the two dogs after getting up, it was hot but enjoyable with a stop at Grandpa and Grandma’s house and we finished the day with a cook-out at our place.  Jamie grilled burgers and dogs and we had corn, watermelon and crust-less cheesecake for dessert with peaches and blueberries-yum!!

We are headed to bed now to get some shut eye with hopes that the dogs and Jay can sleep through all of the fireworks, maybe we’ll enjoy those with Jay next year… Goodnight and happy 4th!

a great group shot of the supper crew before we filled our bellies :-)

By the way… Jay was wearing a super cute “first 4th of July” outfit; however, he decided to spring a leak on it before we could get any pictures of him in it.  Maybe I will grab some of him in it tomorrow, just to show that it was worn.

oh canada…

our (my) home and native land…

Even though I am an official American citizen now, I was born in Canada and feel it only right to give a shout out for Canada Day!  Hope all of my family in the great white (although not white right now) North is enjoying their day off and that Jamie’s family (who is currently traveling up there) is having a great day too!

Wish we could be there to watch the fireworks and eat popcorn on the brow of the hill with you Grandma…

the two of us sporting our Roots shirts! seriously- love that place!

a self portrait for good measure and because I like them!
