springtime in florida

We have been in the big pool once already; swim lessons (in the big outdoor pool) start at the end of the week; we have taken out the slip n slide, water table and now the kiddie pool. As far as I’m concerned springtime in Florida is in full swing! Living here does have it’s perks although come July/August I am pretty sure I will be joining the boys in the kiddie pool because it is going to be HOT! Most days we need to burn off a ton of energy just so the boys don’t end up killing each other before Daddy gets home… I call this next activity: pre-nap time survival, that and cheap entertainment.

Oh and if you want to see how much the kiddos have grown in the last year check out these and these kiddie pool pics from last year.

crazy normal

My immediate response when people ask lately how we are/ how I am is “Crazy, good but crazy”. However, the more I think about this the more I realize we are less and less crazy and more and more normal.  You see, before we had any kiddos we had plenty of time to do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and honestly I am not all that sure what we did with our boat loads of free time.  After we had Jay we thought we were seriously crazy and had no free time and then we had Charlie (bringing the parent child ratio up to one-to-one) and actually had less free time.  If you would have asked me about our free time when we just had Jay I would have found it rather laughable; now I am not sure what we did with it all.  Perspective is funny that way…  All this to say that we are crazy or normal; however you want to think of it and here is a taste of our crazy brought to you by the ever present iPhone.

outside bath tub

This summer has been hot! I mean stand outside for 2 minutes, don’t move an inch and come in drenched in sweat- hot! So in an effort to stay cool we have pulled out the kiddie pool on many occasions. Some of our “swims” have been midday affairs in that time between lunch and afternoon naps while more frequently it gets pulled out after supper but before baths. Both boys love splashing around out there and since we don’t really care enough to change them into swim diapers before letting them splash we usually end up stripping off the super-huge water logged diapers and are left with two tiny skinny dippers. It’s a good thing we basically have a privacy fence out front otherwise I am not sure what our neighbors would think. I love so many of these photos that I took the other night when the boys were splashing around that I had a hard time narrowing it down much- be prepared for some ultra adorable summer night fun! Really Charlie’s faces are priceless in some of these :)

thing one and thing two

The other day I was trying to get some photos of Jay and Charlie in their thing one and thing two shirts… We don’t have many of the two boys together in photos right now so I am trying to make a more conscious effort to take some.  I wouldn’t exactly call the said “photo shoot” extremely successful- you can’t really tell what the shirts say and I am not wild about the back lighting in the photos.  That being said, I will most certainly try again for a ‘brothers’ shoot soon and there are a few cute ones of my fellas that I had to share… enjoy and happy Friday to you!!!

the next two of Charlie are really similar but I couldn’t decide on which one I liked best so you get to see them both. Isn’t he getting so big!?!

typical

I love this view… three of my loves hanging out and content to just be with each other.  Simple joys, a big brother to shake a rattle for the little brother and a puppy dog who aches to be near anyone that will have her. This is a pretty frequent occurrence around here… the four of us within a four foot radius and it is so, so great.  Oh and incase you are concerned Charlie looked like this about 30 seconds before this photo was taken- content as content can be :)

However, he had some “tough” lovin’ from his ubber affectionate brother (we are still working on hugging not squishing) and wasn’t feeling the group shot. That and he was getting tired of tummy time :)

brothers

Most everyone has an opinion on whether or not our boys look like each other- some say yes, some say no… does this help in making a decision?

Both sets of photos were taken when Jay and Charlie are 3 months old to the day. On a whim, I choose to put Charlie in the same outfit that I took Jay’s photos in and boy am I glad that I did- it has been so much fun to see the photos side by side! I only wish that Charlie had been a little more smily on the day of his photos… if he was I think the photos would have been even more similar!
