venture

As some of you may know my Dad owns his own photography studio located in downtown Winter Park, Venture Studios. From time to time we go in and his photographers shoot the boys. We were in at some point during the spring which is where these photos of Jay are from and again after Luc was born. It’s a completely different style than I normally shoot but I do enjoy getting to “see” my kiddos from someone else’s perspective.

I don’t take many “formal” photos of the boys; however, I do try to make an effort on their birthdays and half birthdays to get some official/planned/shoot-like photos of them, especially since they are growing so quickly these days. And while they may be growing up quickly, I am not apparently quick to post the photos so please excuse the tardiness of the photos and focus on how darn cute our little bird is.

newborn photos

I keep thinking that I will post these photos of Charlie after I get his announcements sent out.  However, I was hoping to send out our holiday card along with them (to save on postage) and since I haven’t even begun to think about that yet I figured what the heck I might as well go ahead and post them.  Besides I have been dying to share them since  I love, love, love how they turned out- he was less than a week old and still so tiny and squishy!

cousin pictures

Every year when everyone is together (which is usually only at the holidays) Jamie’s family takes a cousin picture.  Last year they (the Moms and Dads/ Aunts and Uncles) made every cousin a book with all of the pictures- it was so cool to see everyone grow up from year to year.  And also pretty darn funny to see some of the clothing (a lot of it was from the 80’s and early 90’s).  This year Jay (since he is a cousin too) was included in the picture.  I can’t wait to see this picture continue to grow as the family continues to grow!

a bow tie!!

I am in love, seriously in love with Jays bow tie!

I saw a pattern to make a bow tie online a few months back and decided that aside from my lack of sewing skills (I am not an exact or calculated person- ask my husband) nothing was stopping me from making one!  So I decided to ask my Mom to borrow her sewing machine, purchased a bit of adorable fabric and gosh darn it if I didn’t make a bow tie!  Please don’t let this give you the false impression that I can really sew, the lines aren’t quite straight and I really, really need to invest in a seam ripper, I just can simply get by in the sewing department… either way I love the end result and you can bet that there will be more!

playing a bit

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a photo booth in our house for quite some time- just for fun and for something different.  It still needs a bunch of work (not all of the kinks are out yet) but I did take a few shots with it this afternoon before going on tour with Jay Bird…

the cutest helper ever!

I have had a few photo shoots recently that I have scheduled during the day while Jamie is working (it’s a great way to still keep our weekends free and get to work).  So what have I done?  I have brought with me the absolutely cutest little helper out there.  I mean really you can’t higher anyone this adorable!

keeping track of the equipment for me

I know he doesn't match, don't judge, at least the sun is off his pretty little "working" head.

By the way, he really is the best little boy when we are out shooting.  He usually just sits there watching me shoot; once he even crawled between my legs and poked his head out at the little girl I was photographing… melt my heart kiddo, seriously!

If you want to check out some of the pictures head over to my professional sitethis little one is too cute!

green eyes…

I haven’t gotten a chance to post these adorable squishy pics of Jay that I took a few weeks ago.  I love, love, love them- every time I see them they make me smile!!!  We (I) was just playing around with our 50mm lens during the afternoon (I opened up all of the blinds to let the sunshine in) and what I discovered was Jay Bird’s green eyes!  His eyes are most definitely shaped like his Daddy’s but they are getting greener by the day- check out the last one for proof of where he gets them from :-)

Sorry for the overload of pics, I couldn’t just pick one or two of the naked squishy baby pics :-)

silly boy- Daddy's favorite from the day :-)

not a great self-portrait but maybe you can tell where he got his eye color from in this one :-)

announcing

So I was finally able to finish sending out Jay’s birth announcements last week. I feel horrible about not getting them out sooner- people will understand right? At least I hope they will. I mean when you just have a baby you don’t have time to address a ton (yup, there were a ton) of envelopes and then run to the post office. I am crossing my fingers that we have understanding family and friends.

My dear, dear and talented friend Nan designed the announcements for us and they turned out fabulously! She made two for us to choose from but since I couldn’t choose we ordered some of each- love, love, love them!

Here are some other pictures from that shoot that I love. It’s so hard to believe that he was this tiny once, where did my tiny baby go? Btw- Jay was 7 days old in these pictures.

a little view into what Jay sees, a lot!

P.S. The beautiful blanket that we used in these pictures was made by Jay’s very talented Mimi :-)
