Much of our time these days is spent in the family room racing cars, lining up cars, making cars fly, telling the gentlemen to start their engines, fussing at Charlie because he has the car that Jay would like and so much more with cars. To say that Jay enjoys playing with cars would be an understatement of the century. Our child is OBSESSED with them. Which honestly is perfectly fine with me- they are super easy to throw in the bag and travel well, they entertain him for hours and he spends countless hours dreaming up all kinds of things for them to do. Seriously, this kiddo’s imagination is on overdrive these days!
Here’s a little snippet of the view I get to have day after day…
One of my favorite blogs lately is Under the Sycamore (if you have time check it out, it’s simply lovely). I check my reader a few times a day to see what’s new and I always read hers if I see something new. So last night before heading to bed I saw that she was going to be participating in A Bit of Sunshine’s Ten on Ten project . I looked it up to see what it was all about (very simply- take 10 pictures, one every hour on the hour, and post them on the 10th of the month) and was intrigued. I figured I’d give it a whirl too, after all it would give me a reason to take and post some pictures within the same day (something that I haven’t had a lot of time to do lately) and maybe it might stretch my creativity a bit too. Well it was rainy most of the day (ie the light in the house was pretty bad) and my pictures didn’t really stretch my creative side but rather chronicled my day today. Either way, good and bad, since I took them here they are…
I am hoping to remember next month and maybe to stretch myself a little more creatively next time. At least that’s the plan for now…
We sure are sorry that Daddy had to head back into the office today. It has been so nice having him home the last few days (he worked from home Friday and Tuesday and had Monday off). Here’s hoping that Saturday will hurry up and come soon so we can play again!
playing at the parkjust hanging- honestly Jay really doesn't mind this :-)a little after nap time gamingsharing his duplo with Daddy
Here’s the update on Piper (since I am sure you are all dying to know)…
I waited and waited to hear from the vet until I couldn’t wait any longer and decided to call and check on Piper. When I talked to the vet they said that she had a very good day, that she hadn’t gotten sick and that she could come home whenever I wanted to pick her up. They still aren’t really sure what caused her to get so sick but thought she was well enough to come home. That was all I needed to hear; Jay and I headed over to pick her up as soon as he woke up from his nap. After completing all the paperwork and putting her meds and special food in the car (she is eating something different for a few days until she is back at 100%) they brought her out from the back to us. As soon as Jay saw her coming around the corner he started squealing and flapping his arms in delight (yup we are talking about my normally pretty serious in public child), apparently I wasn’t the only one that missed her. It was so precious and of course caused me to tear up again…
We are all very happy to have her home, even Dolce gave her a few licks upon her return yesterday. She has been a little more sleepy and snuggly than her usual excitable-self but that just means that I got to have a warm pillow yesterday while playing with Jay on the floor and I am not complaining one bit. I am sure that she will be back to 100% in no time for which I am very, very thankful!
And because all posts are better with pictures here are a few that I took last week while Piper and Jay were playing on the floor. She really is so sweet to let him crawl all over her.
sharing toysmid play kisses
which way should we go?now is that a great puppy or what- I love how her forehead wrinkles a little because of Jay
Lately I have been taking Jay over to the Cady Way Park, a fairly good park for kids within walking distance from the house. It has been really nice to get out during the day, especially since it has been a little cooler lately (to my Canadian family- this is all relative, it’s still in the 90’s here). Jay has really enjoyed going to the park as well. This comes as no surprise to me since he can people watch outside there and what could be better?
Here are a few pictures of Jay swinging from our first trip.
a new favorite of mine- it looks like he is waving although he can't do that yet
Lately, I have been pretty bad at updating you all on our happenings; however, I have been pretty good at soaking up every ounce of cuteness that my little Jay bird is oozing right now. I have been enjoying my time with him, our time as a family and the laughter that fills our house these days…
he's on the move (not full crawl yet) but still getting into "trouble"although he has been making his fair share of messes he is happy to help clean up toonew favorite treat- an ice pop! those top teeth are really giving him trouble so the ice pop feels really great these dayspeaking out to see the animals- little stinkera not so sleepy little boy with a lopsided paciwhat happens when Daddy feeds you...playing with Piper and Daddy- Dolce looks on...what Mommy and Daddy do at Home Depot for funmore fun at home depot
Another great thing about this age is that he is old enough to play but not old enough to protest too much! Which is why Daddy and Mommy can get away with doing things like this…
Recently, Jay has really been playing a whole lot. I can put him on a blanket in the middle of the floor and place some toys around him and he will play for as long as I let him. It’s great- I love watching his little brain work while he is playing; he really does take everything in and love to play! Also, this “new” trick allows for me to get a some stuff done while he plays (laundry etc) so it’s a win-win situation for all!
If I had to choose I would say his current favorite toy is anything that stacks; I make towers and he knocks them down, over and over again. We certainly all have our jobs in this household :-) The first few pictures are of Jay’s stacking cups; a very inexpensive toy that I would highly recommend to any parent. Although, I think he would probably like plain old tupperware just as much. The others are of a boat that he really likes to play with too- enjoy!
love his little face in this picture :-)
his favorite part of the boat is certainly the flag, although the little man that goes with the boat is a close second
Do they get cuter than this?? I mean seriously- that smile, those thighs, the laugh (sorry you can’t hear it)!?!? I am loving every minute with this kiddo…
