charlie time

Jay was with my Mom today.  They went to the beach and, from what I understand, had a grand ole time.  Charlie and I had a pretty great time ourselves.  I had forgotten what it is like to have just one kiddo but it didn’t take me long to remember.  I enjoyed every minute that we got together, just the two of us, today.

playing outside in the morning before it got scorching hot…

a few post-jammie photos, it got pretty warm out there even in the shade

enjoying some toys that were dug from the depths of the closet, especially since he didn’t have to share them with anyone…

rich

I am counting my blessings and cherishing each and every hug, kiss and ounce of sugar I am getting from my sweet little boys today.

Because even though some days and moments are rough, we are happy healthy and together and therefore so richly blessed.

butterflies

Over Mom’s spring break Jay spent the night at her house twice. It was nice to be able to check a few things off of my to-do list while he was gone and it was especially nice to have some good, uninterrupted, one-on-one time with Charlie. I met Mom over at Lucas Nursery to make the switch and before we parted ways- she with Jay and me with Charlie- we toured the nursery, picked up a few plants for the front of the house and made a trip through the butterfly garden they have. Although it took him a while to look up without prompting he finally got the hang of it and started to spot the butterflies on his own. Jay loved looking at the ‘buhflies’ and held tight to his species diagram the whole time we were there.

“i scream, you ice scream”

We have a new wooden sign in the kitchen that says- I Scream, You Scream and it has a big ice cream cone on it.  My Little Bird likes to point at it and say “I scream, you ice scream”, makes me smile…

The other day, Jamie was working from home and Jay had been especially good during the day so we had an early supper, packed up the car and treated Jay to his first ice cream cone!  If you know anything about us, you know that we (maybe mostly me, but it’s rubbing off on Jay too) have a thing for ice cream.  If you take a look in our freezer at any given time you can find at least 4-5 different flavors- it’s our own personal Baskin Robins ;)  So a trip to get an ice cream as a family was a very fitting treat.

At the end of it all Jay was a super sticky mess- a head-to-toe mess of melted ice cream.  But I am pretty sure he loved every single bite of his super huge “banilla” cone (btw- we ordered  him a small cone, I would hate to see what the medium or large looks like).  And as for this Mamma, the ice cream was yummy but spending a quiet evening just the four of us was more of a treat than I could ever ask for.  Lately, the days and evenings have been kind of crazy, with Jamie’s insane work hours and everything that comes along with having two boys under 2.5 years old, so these moments have been rare but oh so sweet when they happen… Can’t wait to do it again ;)

ordering- he loved watching the cones being made

lunch

One of the perks of Jamie working from home is that we get to have lunch with Grandpa when he does.  We all look forward to it- Piper nearly knocks over everyone in her path once she sees us getting ready for lunch (putting the place-mats out and getting a towel for her to have her kong treat on) and Jay bounds around the house saying “Grandpa, Grandpa” in a sweet sing-songy voice when he sees him pull up or hears the front gate open announcing his arrival.  I know it’s only a little bit before Charlie joins in on the Grandpa’s-here-dance too because he loves every bit of our visits as much as the rest of us.  I am so glad that I was able to grab a few photos from the highlight of our week; Charlie shared some adorable smiles and the few that I got of Grandpa reading to Jay (which is probably Jay’s favorite part of our lunch routine) make my heart smile.  Enjoy the photos and enjoy the next few days of your weekend ;)

friday from the phone

just a peak at our Friday cause I have it ;)

what I came in to find after walking Daddy out to the car in the morning… when I asked Jay what he was doing he mater of factly told me that he was watching baby Charlie (Charlie was in his bouncer on the floor in the kitchen)

drinking from a big boy cup

even with Super Jay riding along we didn’t get in and out of publix in under an hour… honestly, the only thing that would make me happier than the public cape appearances is if he had a pair of rain boots too :)

happy baby

what Jay’s bed usually looks like in the morning and after naps… not sure how he sleeps with all of that stuff in it

not a super happy baby- his acid reflux is bothering him still and he’s getting teeth to boot!

my view is pretty sweet though…

supper prep- look here for the super delicious recipe

after supper outside playtime

super weekend

We had a super weekend- lots of great family time, lots of things accomplished and checked off of our list, lots and lots of fun!

Jay has been wearing the Superman Cape that my Dad gave him pretty frequently these days (it’s fantastic and I LOVE that he asks to wears it out in public- it usually gets a lot of smiles from strangers too).  On Saturday he wore it to lunch at Hot Dog Heaven.  He had a great time flying with Daddy after lunch and I was lucky to capture a few of these gems.

*Note… if you are faint at heart you may not want to scroll down too far for there is most definitely children “flying” the air ;)

And just so Charlie didn’t feel left out, he got to fly too!

Both boys LOVE this by the way and none of the photos were Photoshopped ;)

good bye highchair

For the last few weeks I have been letting Jay sit with me at the table and have lunch.  I wanted to slowly transition him out of the highchair before Charlie needed it so he didn’t feel like he was being kicked out.  However, he has done so well it’s kind of become a regular thing.  He crawls up on his own and buckles himself right in.  He’s getting to be such a big boy these days; honestly I am afraid to blink too long for fear of missing any of it.

and yes the majority of his plate is filled with fruit… not a battle I want to fight these days ;)

all before noon

Such an exciting day we had and all before noon…

We prepped dinner and sampled the “goods”…

We were sure to share with our friends…

We watched cars dive from great heights and then dove a little ourselves…

We watched race cars race at “very fast” speeds…

We took airplanes for rides and did loop-de-loops…

We hauled bricks, loaded trains and used a crane…

We took our friends to the train and saw them off on an adventure to “hot dolphin” (aka Hot Dog Heaven)…

We read a half dozen stories- The Lorax, I love You this Much, Little Blue Truck, Curious George and many others…

We met some new friends and attended to all of their needs…

We caught sight of an extremely adorable squishy…

And we had guests for lunch…

I don’t know about you but our day has been full, really full… gloriously and wonderfully full ;)
