teeth!

Last Thursday Jay’s first tooth finally popped through the gum and made it’s appearance.  Jamie didn’t believe me that it was actually through the gum until I showed him the mark Jay had accidentally left on my finger and made him feel for himself! Jay has been working on them for a few weeks now, bless his heart.  This means that you can tell they occasionally bother him, although he hasn’t been super fussy, and sleeping in general has been a little less predictable (sometimes he naps wonderfully, sometimes he doesn’t/ sometimes he sleeps through the night, sometimes not so much).  All in all it hasn’t been a horrible experience aside from knowing that he is hurting.  He is working on one more, the bottom front right one, and I hope it will make it’s appearance either before or sometime during this weekend and then maybe the little guy can catch a break for awhile.  Until then, cold teethers and ice cubes are our friends :-)

He also really likes for us to brush his teeth with the baby tooth brush that I bought.  I am sure that it just feels really good on those gums…

check out how long those red locks are getting!
isn't he sweet? so darling and such a good boy!

I’ll be sure to post a picture as soon as I am able to get one; not sure how soon that will be- he’s pretty guarded about them right now.

a preview

from our weekend…

I didn’t get to take too many pictures this weekend when Jay was being baptized but I did pull out my camera and grabbed a few while Mimi, Pepere and Daddy were dressing him in the family gown.  I am so glad that I did because I think that this may be one of my favorites from the day.  I will post more from this wonderful day soon!

bowl full of mush

Last Tuesday night (06-29) Jamie and I decided to try giving Jay rice cereal.  At our last Doctor’s visit the Doctor recommended trying it sometime after he turned 5 moths old so he could get used to eating and having food put in his mouth.  Up until this point he has been exclusively breast fed via the bottle or the milk truck (Daddy’s really sweet nickname for me) so I wasn’t sure how he would take to it but he did fabulously!  The first couple of bites came straight back out but as soon as he got the hang of it he was putting it down the hatch rather quickly, all the while giggling and laughing.  I may have to take this back later but I think that he has inherited our taste buds and isn’t going to be that picky of an eater.  I know for sure that he has already inherited his Daddy’s appetite…

hey, what's that?

a very full and happy boy!

rollin’ rollin’ rollin’

Up until this point we have been carrying Jay pretty much everywhere we go; either in a Bjorn or my carrier.  It has been really convenient and I have actually loved it.  However, since he is getting heavier and because it is so hot outside carrying him has become less comfortable.  Don’t believe me- strap a heated 15lb weight to your chest and head out for a walk and let me know if you’re comfy…

That being said, from day one Jay has disliked his car seat and, therefore, his snap and go stroller- it’s the same chair and all so it’s understandable.  I hesitated to use the travel system stroller that was lent to us by his Aunt and Uncle since it was pretty big and bulky but after sweating to death one day last week while wearing him I asked Jamie to pull it out for me.  Boy am I glad that I did!  Jay loves, loves, loves it!  I think that he could honestly hang out in that thing all day long if he needed to. He’ll prop one leg up on the tray in front of him and sit back and relax for the whole ride.  Makes me really excited for when we can turn his car seat around since I am sure that he will prefer riding that way in the car too.

excited about his "new" ride!

the trip home

Here’s another flashback for ya…

These pictures are from when we were packing up at the hospital and heading home as a family of three for the first time.  I had brought one of my favorite outfits (the roots outfit that my Grandma and Auntie Deb gave us) for Jay to go home from the hospital in; however there wasn’t even a prayers chance that he would have fit into it!  As it is, the blue monkey outfit that he wore home was swallowing him whole and it was a newborn onesie!  I love his little squishy faces in some of these pictures- so cute.  I can still hear the little noises that he used to make, man he didn’t make those for long…

the best gift!

Today, on Mother’s Day, I am reminded of just how very blessed I am.  I couldn’t ask for a better husband and Daddy to Jay or for anything more in a son.  Since the very first moment that he came into this world Jay has captured my heart and I continue to love him more and more each day.  I have had the most wonderful day with my two guys and Jay gave me the best Mother’s Day gift- his first real laugh!  I love the sound of babies laughing; however, when the laugh comes from your child it is the most amazing sound on Earth!!

By the way, we were lucking enough to have the video camera rolling when he laughed.  So you really are seeing his first laugh in this video!
