such a big guy

Charlie has made hard and fast work of getting rid of the toddler faze; seemingly over night he has become a little boy. He is determined to do whatever Jay is doing and usually (motor skill and verbal skill allowing) succeeds. I continuously am saying that he is trouble, because he is, and what’s really bad is all he has to do is flash a smile and I am a goner- trouble, pure trouble I tell you!

While Jay was at summer camp I decided to let him sit in Jay’s booster chair for lunch and now we are officially out of the highchair. Considering his age he does pretty well at the table and it is incredibly cute to see his tiny self poking up over the edge of the table while he eats.

I seriously can’t get enough of this kiddo and wish daily that time would just slow down a little.

short on time

Afternoon naps for the big boys have been shorter lately and Luc has decided on 10pm as his witching hour. So while I have been taking lots photos the “free” time to post them has been limited. I am hoping to get some more up soon but until then enjoy a few of my squishy…

By the way, he is still so tiny and squishy. I seriously can’t get enough of him :)

one week

Luc and Mommy

Luc,

Monday you were a week old- just a mere 7 days- and already you have stolen my heart, actually you did that the first time they put you in my arms moments after you were born. You came into this world 20 days early and I frequently wonder how I could have waited that long to snuggle you.

Free time is short these days and sleep even less so; however, I have a few things that I want to remember from these first few days… You are tiny- you are shorter than the length of your Daddy’s forearm, my chapstick is as long as your forearm- tiny for sure. You fit so nicely into my arms and have the frog style snuggle down pat. For the most part you sleep really well, you are nice to me and your Daddy in that regard and so far you have been sleeping in the cradle with the help of Jenny (our sound machine). You eat well although you are pretty messy. Frequently, I am covered in milk after you nurse and you almost always have it all over your face. You burp really well after eating and occasionally let out one that sounds like it should have come from a much larger person. When you nurse you rub your tiny little feet on my arm, Jay used to do that too, and it is one of my favorite things. You also frequently prop your hand/arm up behind your head while eating or sleeping and every time I see you do this it reminds me so much of your Daddy, he sits/sleeps that way too. When you are snoozin’ you smile the sweetest little half smiles and while I know most babies do this too your smiles melt me every time.  You like to be warm and cuddled. When you get cold your tiny body shivers until you are covered up and held. You could probably be covered up and not snuggled and be just as happy but I have decided to use this as an excuse to hold and cuddle you; you won’t be this tiny for long. You don’t mind tummy time (yet) and seem to like the paci, at least for now. Your brothers adore you and would smother you in kisses, hugs and other random forms of affection all day long if we let them. You have taken their affection and the two of them in stride.  So far you are pretty go with the flow, a good trait for a third child, and you fit seamlessly into our little family of 5. I simply can’t imagine our lives without you and am so thankful and blessed to be your Momma.

I look forward to the road ahead, for I know it will bring wonderful things so far beyond what I can imagine.

I love you more than words can say sweet boy.

Love,
Momma

silly charlie

Lately, Charlie’s personality has really started to bloom. We are really getting an idea of just how silly, sweet and hard headed this little guy is. I love watching him grow into his own little person. One of the silly things he loves to do is stand on his head. I don’t know why he does it but he does it frequently and when he does he sometimes waves at people through his legs. Silly, silly boy.

sweet dreams

My little bird is not often still asleep when I head into his room after naps. However, this day he was snoozing away and when I realized it I quickly grabbed my camera to grab a few photos of his sweet little dreams. These photos are older (I think they are from last July- wow!) but I couldn’t resist sharing.

I woke up today and thought we needed to get out of the house. I hadn’t seen either of the boys yet but I knew we needed to be out. Luckily it is the first Monday of the month which means that it’s free admission day to Leu Gardens because the Orlando public library is doing story time. So I sent my dear friend Staci a text asking if she would like to join our crazy for the morning and she agreed to. If we are going for full disclosure here I admit that I had no intention of actually going to listen to story time, we have done that before and it’s not all that great- It’s a huge room so the boys have a hard time seeing/hearing and overall I just haven’t ever been a fan, I just wanted a mostly fenced in area in which the boys could run.

So we loaded up, stopped by Dunkin Donuts to stock up on sugar and caffeine and headed to the gardens. I should have known that it was going to be a stellar morning when Charlie was using the corner of his shirt as a make-shift blankie and sucking his thumb on the way there (the thumb is the ultimate “I want sleep” indicator); however, I ignored the neon flashing sign and we trudged on. Charlie cried and fussed for a good portion of the morning out of sheer indecision and tiredness- the kid had no idea what he wanted or didn’t want, to ride in the stroller, to walk, to be held etc. And Jay left his “glistening ears” (what he calls his listening ears) at home or in the car or something so we were in rare form.

Regardless of all of that, we did have a really great time. We picnicked with donuts, got some of our energy out and Jay got filthy dirty when he “tripped” and rolled around the hill (ie purposefully fell while running down the hill). However, I certainly am looking forward to the being able to use the new (currently waiting for it to arrive) stroller. It has two seats and two buckles so I can strap both of my crazies in at one time and just push the singing (I mean screaming) children places without pushing one and trying to wrangle the other on top of my ever growing belly. Oh and did I mention that I am super grateful for sweet friends who will chase your kids down when they start running straight for the lake without warning? If I didn’t well I meant to; those kind of friends are the best ;)

Here’s our troop of doughnut-eating boys (the lone girl between the two of us was at school)- four pictured (ages 6, 3.5, 2.5 and 1.5), another not pictured (5 months old) was in the stroller and the last one in my tummy still baking. I know it’s a lot but they are wild and fun never the less.
