keeps me on my toes these days! We have hit full-on 3 year old status with an attitude and strong will to match. Most days we butt heads more times than I care to admit; he fights me on things I didn’t know it was possible to have opinions or battles over but oh my does he melt me…

He likes to pick out his own clothes (not all of the time) and recently has been choosing ties- because he wants to be “fancy”. He loves to help with anything I will let him do, always asking me “Mommy what is my job going to be?” or “Mommy, what can I help you with?”. He would live outside if we would let him. He loves books more than ever, if that is possible, and desperately wants to read. In fact, a few days ago he got really upset and started crying; when I finally was able to get him to tell me what was wrong he told me “Mommy, I can’t read!” It broke my heart a little; I need to start working with him on his letters more… He says the most hysterical and sweet things these days, including today when he told me “It’s just so hard to wait for Daddy to come home Mommy”, it is sweet boy, it is. He loves his brother and is always getting into some type of shenanigans with him- I see trouble in my future with these two.

I feel like he is growing up entirely too fast; which is why I sit just a little longer with him when he stops long enough to crawl up in my lap for snuggles. He still fits so well there next to my heart and for that I am so grateful.

Outfit and accessories all chosen by Jay and what you can’t see is the bright green flip-flops he has on his feet…

I don’t take many “formal” photos of the boys; however, I do try to make an effort on their birthdays and half birthdays to get some official/planned/shoot-like photos of them, especially since they are growing so quickly these days. And while they may be growing up quickly, I am not apparently quick to post the photos so please excuse the tardiness of the photos and focus on how darn cute our little bird is.

3 of a kind

I suppose it’s about time that we made official announcements around here…

it's a boy!

In August/July we will be adding another brother to the mix!! I had my 20 week ultrasound last Friday and Jamie and I were thrilled to see a happy (yes this is an assumption but how could he not be?) and very healthy little boy growing away. I can’t imagine how crazy things are going to be around here in the coming months; however, I also can’t imagine my heart feeling more full!

Our “it’s a boy” announcement photos didn’t exactly go as planned (the blue balloon I got was popped 30 seconds after it was handed to Jay and I didn’t get a single photo of it) but I guess that’s what I get for planning anything in the first place. This is our reality these days- a house full of busy, busy boys who don’t want to sit still for photos. Thanks Daddy for helping to get one where everyone is at least looking.

and some outtakes because they make me smile-

and a peek (please excuse the iPhone photo of the ultrasound) at our sweet little guy, I think he just might have the same nose as his brothers ;)
sweet little boy!

p.s. Thanks Aunt Holly (the Great) for the post title ;) What really could be better than three of a kind?!

touch a truck

A few months ago Jamie and I took Jay and Charlie to an event called Orlando Touch a Truck. A local church, Orlando Lutheran Church, hosts an event where they get all kinds of trucks and work vehicles to come in and the kids can sit in them, ride on them and play around on them. Jay had a blast looking at all of the trucks and even Charlie got to have a few turns.

such a happy little guy!

mornings

Some days are better than others. It’s true and something that I am slowly beginning to accept; along with grumpy comes joy and laughter and the opposite is true of course. This morning regardless of the tears, tired yawns, not-quite awake cuddles and the protests against breakfast my sweet boys giggled at each other for no apparent reason. These are the moments of the day that I try to remember as I say my prayers and crash for the night and I hope they do too.

Here’s the silly, the serious, the pouty and the giggles. Happy Wednesday to you.

big boy bike

Jamie and I have been waiting a while before going ahead and purchasing Jay his first bike.  After a little bit of thought (mostly on Jamie’s part since I didn’t have many opinions on the topic) we settled on getting him a pedaless bike (also known as a push bike, balance bike, glider bike).  He is getting better by the day at pushing/gliding on his bike and I am having a hard time keeping up with them now that he is really getting the hang of it. And yes this is the same bike you spied a few days ago in Charlie’s 15 month post.

Waiting for his surprise…
