sick kitty…

We have a sick kitty at our house… one that needed to be taken to the vet on Tuesday and while we hoped that he would be able to come home tonight that isn’t the case.  They will need to do further testing and an ultrasound to rule out other things and get him on his way to recovery.  So, if you are so inclined to pray for furry children, Dolce could use a few prayers and I think that we could too.  My heart has been pretty heavy the last few days and while he, Dolce, drives me nuts from time to time I can’t wait to have him come home.

The other animals are kind of lost right now without him, Bella especially (his pound kitty sister).  She keeps wandering around looking for him and meowing- it’s really sad…  Jay has noticed that something is up but isn’t quite sure and I am honestly glad that he is too young to understand.  He has however, been hamming it up the best he can to keep our spirits up.  Yesterday, aside from being a dancing fool he kept his crown (a pipe cleaner crown that I made to entertain him on the plane) on all day and hammed it up for the camera with his shades…

By the way, I am still working on Canada photos and will post soon as soon as I can :)

jammies…

Lately it feels as though Jay is growing up before my eyes.  Each and every time I look at him I see more of a little boy and less of my little baby… I know that this is going to happen but this has a way of playing with my already surging pregnancy emotions if you know what I mean.  So lately I have loved most things that remind me that he’s still my little baby and his footy pajamas are no exception.  They bring me back to his tiny days… the days when he wasn’t running all around the house, the days where he couldn’t speak three word sentences to me and the days in which he had no opinions on the cup he drank his juice from…

They are precious but then again so is he :)

breakfast

Our mornings usually look something like this…

Jay getting up and being changed

Jay walking to the kitchen and asking for his juice (which he may or may not specify to be in his “neen”- Lightening McQueen- cup)

Jay helping me to put a waffle in the toaster and pushing the button for it to start

choosing his fork after I give him a few color choices- btw, he his favorite is the pink one ;)

feeding Piper (his morning chore)

playing a bit with cars- if there’s time before the toaster beeps

announcing to me that the toaster has beeped as if I didn’t hear it myself- “beep, beep Mommy, beep, beep”

then breakfast- he eats and I eat…  He concentrates really hard on using his fork all by himself, I marvel at how fast he is growing up…  I tickle his toes from beneath his tray, he giggles and pulls them away from me…   We smile at each other but don’t say much… it’s perfect and wonderful; not a wonder it’s the most important meal of the day…

his excited face as of late, it's precious and I love it ;)

it’s been a while…

Honestly, I feel like it has been so long since I have sat down to write a proper blog post and it probably has been.  However, don’t get your hopes up too much- I am not writing one today either… Just wanted to check in, say that we are still here and that I promise after I get my act together, rap up some of the projects that I have been working on and possibly finish going through some of the dozens of photos that I have been neglecting we will be back.

Until then, enjoy this photo of Jay Bird at the splash pad a few weeks ago.  Doesn’t he look like such a big boy??  He has so many “tricks” up his sleeves these days and has been such a ham!  Love that kid :)

18 months!

Jay is 18 months today- holy camoly!!!  I am pretty sure that we have hit the 2’s early with this kiddo and as much as this phase makes me want to pull my hair out from time to time, there are times when I just sit back in awe of how wonderful he is.  Jamie and I find ourselves frequently stopping to watch as he learns something new, plants a sweet kiss on one of the animals or runs into your arms to give you a massive hug and wet kiss for no reason.

Since I haven’t officially posted an update in quite sometime I figured we were due, so here you go!

Stats:

22.4 lbs (today was the first time he stood on the scale by himself- such a big boy!)

31 1/2 inches long

14 teeth- SO happy to finally be able to say more than 12, those last two took 2.5 months to come in and we are still waiting on the other two eye teeth!

Likes:

*CARS!!  Pretty much anything with at least two wheels right now is a car; whether it be a car, truck, van, mack truck etc.  However, he does not discriminate and loves them all.  It makes riding in the car especially fun, specifically when we get to pass a big one on the road.  He will play with his matchbox cars (and his other cars too) for the longest time- they are constantly everywhere throughout the house and he is always making car noises.  Jay has also taken to the Pixar Cars movie (Cars 1- we are not taking an 18 month old to the theater.) We will sit mesmerized by it if it is on.  This is also a great time to get some snuggles in!

*Water- Jay loves water in all forms.  He loves the pool (the small one out front and any big one), the sprinkler, the hose (which he drinks from) and the bath tub too. It’s not an infrequent occurrence that Jamie will call to me from the bath to show me one of their new bath games or tricks.

*Playing outside.  Regardless of the heat, Jay loves to be outside.  He will trek around the backyard or courtyard for what seems like hours and usually is none too happy about having to come in again.

*Chores- haha, had you going here but honestly Jay loves feeding Piper in the morning and at night and is a great help when picking up his toys.  To watch him with Piper is pretty hysterical. He tells her to “sit” along with a hand motion that vaguely resembles the hand motion that we use with her, carefully carries the cup of food (that Mommy or Daddy fill) to her bowl, and pours it in. He usually drops a few pieces so he picks them up one at a time and puts them in her bowl and then tells her “ok” which usually needs to be repeated by me or Jamie since it doesn’t really sound anything like “ok”.

*Laundry baskets, empty plastic buckets or random boxes.  He will push them all over the house- empty or full- and has a blast doing it.  This makes folding the laundry more difficult, since the basket is NEVER where I leave it, but it amuses him and that’s what counts.

*Shoes.  He loves to wear his shoes and frequently we find him putting ours on (remember the pink shoes?).  He will walk around the house with ours quite a bit and he usually gets them on the right feet :)

*1, 2, 3 GO!  Frequently, Jay is running… he is on the move constantly and doesn’t like to sit still.  This being said, one of his favorite games is “1, 2, 3, GO”.  Which is when he says 1,2,3, go and then runs to the other side of the room.  The funny part… he usually starts counting at 2 and has already started running by the time he says go.

*Buckles.  He loves to clip buckles these days- especially the ones on the changing table, on his car seat and Pipers’ collar.  Fortunately for us he is satisfied with simply buckling them and has yet to try to unbuckle anything but bless us the day he learns that…

*The word NO.  I know that this comes with the age but man do I hate it.  We were pretty lucky to avoid the word for so long (thank heavens for creative ways of telling him no) but now since he is testing every boundary imaginable we have had to use it more often and therefore are hearing it more often.  Oh well, this too shall pass- right??

Other things of Note:

* Jay mimics just about every word out of our mouths right now.  It is great but we also really need to watch what he is able to hear these days ;)  One of my favorites is when he declares “MEN!” (amen) then smiles a huge smile at the end of the blessing at dinner time.  He is also stringing a few words together from time to time- usually only three at a time (Mommy, juice please) but it’s a start!

*He doesn’t sit still- AT ALL!  He is constantly on the move and usually running some place.  It makes the days long and exhausting for me but I was warned that little boys were usually this way.  Not sure what I am going to do with two to chase…

* His little manners are so sweet!  He has started to “say” (sign) thank you and he usually uses please (especially since he knows it will get him things he wants).

Jamie’s favorite from today ;)

the best part

of forgetting to put your PINK shoes away the night before is snagging some great blackmail photos of your kiddo as he clops around the kitchen in them.  Pretty sure these will make an appearance in a wedding slideshow one day :)

Happy Monday everyone!

one full hand equals one full heart…

Five years ago today, I married the love of my life.  I will never forget that day.

I will never forget the way he looked at me as I was walking down the aisle to him…

I will never forget the way my heart leapt with JOY as we walked down the aisle as husband and wife…

I will never forget how our entire families were together, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents- surrounding us with love and well wishes.

I will never forget the way we danced the night away with family and friends…

Life has changed so much in these last five years.  Since then, we have added a sweet baby boy to our family and will be adding one more soon…

We have leaned hard upon each other, have reinforced our strong foundation and have found new ways to love each other…

We have realized what is most important and have invested in it like crazy!

There was so much joy, so many blessings and so much LOVE on that day that I cannot and will not forget.

So here’s to that day, the five in between and the many, many more to come…

Happy Anniversary Jamie, I love you!

brothers…

Come November I will be out numbered 3 to 1; I will be surrounded by boys and loving every minute of it!!  Last Wednesday, Jamie and I ventured into the OB’s office curious to see what November would bring.  We left knowing that our house would be filled with more blue, more cars and a new baby brother!!  Yes indeedy- we are having another BOY!!

We shared the news with our families on Thursday with a pink or blue party- having everyone come either dressed in pink or blue depending on their predictions.  The girl group far out numbered the boy group but regardless of their predictions no one left disappointed- a happy (he bounced all over my tummy during the ultrasound and continues to do so) and healthy little boy will be added to the family. How blessed are we?

the pink group- Grandpa and Uncle Mark both have pink tags on their shirts ;)
the blue group- and yes both Jamie and I really thought that it was going to be a boy, Jay was blue by default (the kid doesn't own any pink)
My adorable sisters-in-law (and future brother-in-law) were so cute and sent their photos in ahead of time so they could be included too! You can see people holding their "puppets" in the above group photos :)
It's a boy dessert to follow the pizza- homemade ice cream sandwiches with Blue Sprinkles

And because I think this little one is already pretty adorable- here HE is (sorry for the poor quality iPhone photo)!!
