the trip home

Here’s another flashback for ya…

These pictures are from when we were packing up at the hospital and heading home as a family of three for the first time.  I had brought one of my favorite outfits (the roots outfit that my Grandma and Auntie Deb gave us) for Jay to go home from the hospital in; however there wasn’t even a prayers chance that he would have fit into it!  As it is, the blue monkey outfit that he wore home was swallowing him whole and it was a newborn onesie!  I love his little squishy faces in some of these pictures- so cute.  I can still hear the little noises that he used to make, man he didn’t make those for long…

so tiny…

Recently I have had to go through our photo library and cleaning it out.  We apparently take a whole lot of pictures (who knew) and we have been running out of space on our drives for new ones.  This is a terribly long process and I am not even 1/4 of the way through- yuck.  However, seeing all of the “old” pictures has been really fun.  I have come across so many pictures of Jay when he was first born,  it’s hard to believe that he was so tiny once… where did my itty- bitty baby go?

love like crazy…

There is a new (I think, we don’t get out that much) song on the radio lately that I have really enjoyed.  Frequently, I get so caught up in everything that I forget to stop and enjoy the here and now.  The unfortunate part about that is that my here and now is pretty amazing.  For whatever reason this song made me stop and think about how much time I am wasting, maybe I should take some advice from this country artist…

Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice

chorus:

be a best friend
tell the truth
and over use I love you
go to work
do your best
don’t out smart your common sense
never let your prayin’ knees get lazy
and love like crazy

I hope you all enjoy your day off with family and friends and get a chance to love like crazy!

I know I certainly will...

family pictures

I have been wanting to get some nice pictures of us as a family for some time now; you know aside from the self portrait style (which in all honestly I sometimes really love- but they have their place).  So this past Sunday Nan and her two adorable men headed over to Rollins College with us to grab a few.  My little guy wasn’t really cooperating, the ground was far more interesting than anything else around, however; Nan worked her magic and was able to grab a few that I’ll cherish forever.  Thanks friend- love you!

one year ago today…

One year ago today I took one of these (the first of many for my unbelieving eyes)…

I loved that the one said "yes" it's like pregnancy tests for dummies :-)

and it said that we were going to have one of these…

first pics of sweet baby Jay

Over the next nine months I did this…

It really is hard to believe that I was this big at one point (these are the last pictures that we have of me before Jay was born).

please excuse the scowl, apparently I was uncomfortable- how quickly we forget!

Even if I don’t remember being that big I do remember how it amused me so to take pictures of my feet poking out from my belly…

see, it really is an amusing view :-)

114 days ago from today (and 251 days from May 21, 2009- if you are one to count) we became this…

first picture as a family of three

One year ago today I couldn’t imagine having this little guy in my life and now I can’t imagine my life without him…

so in love with this little fella

So what this all boils down to is that one year ago today Jamie and I were blessed…

splish-splash

Jamie and I had a wonderful long weekend; I hated to see him leave for work this morning!  Granted I usually don’t like when he has to leave in the morning regardless of how long the weekend was.  We enjoyed some wonderful time as a family and also some wonderful time with family.  Jay also had his first dip in the pool this weekend!  I have many more pictures to share from his swim but I am busily trying to hack away at some of my work this week so I’ll tease you with just one from the day.

faraway travelers

When I was young I was spoiled rotten by these two ladies (and my Mom’s other sister and brother who aren’t pictured).

They came to every recital and soccer game (even if I did stand on my head in the goal for the whole game), they spent endless hours playing with me and dressing me up like a princess (don’t believe- I have pictures) and spent hours, well, just being there for me. Apparently, when you grow up the spoiling doesn’t end because they did it again. In Mid- March they flew all the way from Canada to meet my son. I am not sure that I could describe how proud I was to introduce them to little Baby Jay…

It was so great of them to make such a long trip, we LOVED having them here. I wish daily that they were closer so we could see them more. While they were in town, aside from just starring at Jay (which surprisingly many people can do for long periods of time), we took them to see some of the nontraditional Florida sites- ie we didn’t go to Disney or the beach.

We went to Craft Azalea Gardens to check out the flowers in bloom…

We went to the Audubon Society Birds of Prey Center (my Aunt loves birds)…

We took walks on the Cady way path…

and hung out at our place.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture!
love this picture too- doesn't my Grandma look great?

Their visit was such a treat and I loved every minute that we were able to spend with them. I only wish that we could do it again soon.
