Shrimp Boil

Welcome!

Welcome! If you’ve found this page, you might be planning to attend a Shrimp Boil at the Perreault house. The Perreault family has hosted a seafood boil almost annually from 1999 – 2020. Prior to 1999, Jamie and George attended and learned the ropes at an annual crawfish boil hosted by one of George’s colleagues, a coach at University High School that grew up in Louisiana. 2020 disrupted the tradition but now it’s back and we hope you’ll join us!

About

If you are new to this let us explain. This type of eating/social event is known by many names, but essentially it involves cooking shrimp in a large pot along with potatoes, corn, mushrooms, sausage, onion, garlic, lemon and spices. It is served in a very elegant manner (folding tables covered with plastic). Everyone “bellies up” to the table and digs in (no utensils please). All are welcome, kids and families too, to stay until the sun goes down and beyond. Come join the fun!!

What to bring

  • approximately 1 pound of extra large, raw (uncooked) shrimp per person
  • lawn chairs
  • beverage/libation of choice (BYOB)
  • a dish to share (optional)
  • an appetite
  • a good attitude

Questions?

You are welcome to bring a sweet treat or side dish to share, but it’s entirely optional. We’ll have plenty of food so if you have something you really want to bring, please do, but otherwise just bring yourself and some shrimp, we supply the rest!

We recommend bringing about 1 pound of shrimp for each hungry shrimp-eater in your family.

Since we cook the shrimp, please bring uncooked shrimp.

For size, please bring Jumbo (~20/lb) or Extra Large (~25/lb) if you can find it.

Part of the fun is peeling the shrimp, so make sure they still have some shell. They cook better that way.

There will be plenty of corn, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, and probably a few side dishes for you to enjoy. But you can always bring a sandwich if that’s your thing. Come and hang out!

We typically will send one invitation per household. Everyone in your household is invited.

  • If you are a parent, bring your kids!
  • If you’re a kid, bring your parents and siblings!
  • No kids? bring yourself!
  • All are welcome.

This is an outdoor party that’s about as casual as it gets. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in.

If you’re allergic to shellfish, this might not be the party for you. We’d love to have you show up but please be careful and mindful that all the food is cooked together in a single pot.

This gathering has had anywhere from 50-180 attendees so parking, at times, has been tough. Please be respectful to our neighbors and don’t block any driveways if you park on the street.

If you live within walking distance, please consider walking or biking.

You may find additional parking at Cady Way Park

The party will be in our backyard and we back up to the Cady Way Trail, so you’re welcome to walk up via the trail if that’s the most direct route for you

Because this party is outdoors, we’re at the mercy of the weather. We do not have the ability to move the party indoors so if the weather is bad, we’ll reschedule. Leading up to the event, we’ll be watching the weather forecast and will reach out if we need to reschedule.
