sick puppy :-(

Yesterday while I was making dinner Piper got sick.  I’ll spare you the details but know that things came out both ends and both Jamie and I took her outside multiple times last night (which is really uncommon).  She wouldn’t eat her supper or drink much (also uncommon) but wasn’t vomiting when she went to bed so we (I) hoped that it had passed and we were in the clear.  Not so much, we woke up to the sound of her heaving at 6 am this morning :-(  So I just dropped her off at the vet for a day of observation and maybe some further testing.  She didn’t want me to leave and was pulling the tech so that she could come home with me- this broke my heart.  I think I cried for a good 10 minutes on the way home and again when talking to Jamie to give him the update.  Just praying that they call soon with a good report and let me come pick her up soon.

a picture from before we unloaded at the vets- doesn't Piper look extra pitiful?

    swinging!

Lately I have been taking Jay over to the Cady Way Park, a fairly good park for kids within walking distance from the house. It has been really nice to get out during the day, especially since it has been a little cooler lately (to my Canadian family- this is all relative, it’s still in the 90′s here). Jay has really enjoyed going to the park as well.  This comes as no surprise to me since he can people watch outside there and what could be better?

Here are a few pictures of Jay swinging from our first trip.

a new favorite of mine- it looks like he is waving although he can't do that yet

      look what I can do!

I am seriously in trouble now- Jay is crawling!!!!  Forget being able to set him in one place and know that he will stay there, forget thinking that we should baby proof the house- heck, we NEED to now; this kids on the move!!

For a few weeks now he has been army crawling (putting his arms out in front of him and dragging his behind afterward) around the house to get wherever and whatever he wants.  Jamie and I kept thinking that “real” crawling was right around the corner and we were right.  Over the weekend he decided to give up on the military and go for the full out crawl!  Both Jamie and I were home to witness this milestone making it that much more fun.  It has been so wonderful and amazing to watch this whole learning process- first learning to reach and roll, to sitting and flopping down on his belly, then the army crawl to finally full out crawling.  He still is primarily army crawling as of right now, it gets him where he wants to go much faster since coordination of arms and legs hasn’t quite been mastered yet, but I am sure it won’t be long until this is his preferred method of transportation.  And while I love watching him discover new tricks I am unsure of just what he will try to “discover” now given his new found freedom- all I know is that I am sure he will give me a run for my money!

Here’s a short clip of the real crawl- I only got a bit of it on video.  Jamie and I were too busy watching him the first few times to think of grabbing a camera and then when I did he didn’t really want to cooperate.  Oh well, enjoy what’s here and know that we are one very proud Mommy and Daddy…

        lately…

Lately, I have been pretty bad at updating you all on our happenings; however, I have been pretty good at soaking up every ounce of cuteness that my little Jay bird is oozing right now.  I have been enjoying my time with him, our time as a family and the laughter that fills our house these days…

he's on the move (not full crawl yet) but still getting into "trouble"

although he has been making his fair share of messes he is happy to help clean up too

new favorite treat- an ice pop! those top teeth are really giving him trouble so the ice pop feels really great these days

peaking out to see the animals- little stinker

          Pepere’s Big Catch!

Even if Pepere fished every day for the rest of his life I am not sure he could reel in anything better than this; but that’s just my opinion!

            relaxing…

Jamie and I decided to bite the bullet and head down to Terra Ceia for Jay’s first overnight trip this weekend.  I was nervous about making the trip and I am sure I packed way more than we actually need to have here but all I can say is that it has been bliss!  The ride down went far better than either one of us could have hoped and we have all loved getting away.  There are a ton of new things for Jay to check out including his first trip out on the dock and first time “fishing” with Pepere and Daddy .  Hope you all are enjoying your weekend as much as we are…

Warning: there are excessive amount of pictures to come.  It was, after all, Jay’s first trip to Terra Ceia which is huge and needed to be well documented (and this is only pictures from the first day)…

            watching Pepere fish

            fishie, fishie

            love, love, love this one!!

            hanging out on the dock

not a stellar picture but you can see two of Jay's three teeth in it and aside from that take a look at those lashes!

loving hanging out on the dock!!
